New York City Couple Lifestyle Portraits

If you don’t already know, Mia and Sam have been clients since Mia found me last year when she was in Iowa City. I took her headshots for work and since then, she’s been an awesome client! I took her holiday card photos, lifestyle portraits, and Sam’s graduation photos with family! I was sad to see Mia & Sam leave Iowa City, but eager to see where life takes them in the big city. Mia moved to New York City first for her job at the start of the year and Sam followed after his law graduation in May. So it was exciting to be able to photograph them again—this time in New York! I traveled to NYC with my friend, Karmen, and Mia generously opened their apartment to us. Mia and Sam were so hospitable, and the pups were an added bonus to our stay! I was glad I was able to capture their life in New York City, and of course, they were amazing during the session!

I was actually playing around with my camera and the dogs inside the guest bedroom while Karmen and I were at the apartment taking a break before the portrait session. These two pictures are the result of that! Aren’t they just the cutest?!

We headed to Pier 64 at Hudson River Park for portraits with the beautiful city skyline and for a little bit of nature in the city. Karmen was a great addition to my team because she got the dogs to look my way while I snapped away! If only she still lived in Iowa City… I would keep her as my assistant for all my portrait sessions!

The pier gave a variety of different views. You can see the Empire State Building faintly in the background!

It was still pretty hot outside and everyone felt it so Mia, Sam, and the pups went back to the apartment while Karmen and I made our way up to New World Stages for Puffs Play. I enjoyed this last session with them and being able to do so in a different city; it definitely had my creative juices flowing!

Considering how often I visit the East Coast, I have no doubt I will see Mia, Sam, Neely, and Cora again. Until next time!
